Light chipping upper right, half a dozen other
very tiny/minute rim chips, light surface
marks. Style: Art
nouveau A do like this design, very stylish with
unique flowerheads in the top corners. Kind of
looks like two designs combined, a more typical
tulip design overlaying a more unique design
enconpassing a plain centre. Reminds me of
Marsden indeed by the design only I would have
guessed Marsden first and Richards maybe third
or fourth. Unfortunately many folks of all
kinds, from 'expert' authors to dealers and
collectors, even museum staff and curators get
sucked in to attributing to artist or company
purely by virtue of design without any reference
to source material, records, pattern numbers and
so on. Whilst we all make some mistakes a some
people make a lot of mistakes, uncritical
writers repeat mistakes and so it goes and
grows. It's quite rare this the first offered for
sale by us although I have had one in my
collection for many years. Furthermore I can
only recall seeing it in monochrome green, in a
good array of colours it would be absolutely
fabulous. Verso near perfectly clean, embossed England
and registration number.
