Chips and light marks top right corner, very
tiny chips bottom corners, surface is
excellent. Style: Art
Nouveau A rarely found design, most art nouveau tiles
from the company are rare for along with the
likes of Maw and Woolliscroft most of their
market was precisely made tiles for walls and
rather too expensive for most of the
fireplace/furniture market. This a very well executed tile in
manufacture, very neatly painted example with
nice tonal colours. Minton's 19th century
embossed tiles tended to be excellent in
manufacture, by edwardian times they seem to
have adopted more 'sloppy' arts & crafts
style wabi sabi or 'celebration of imperfection'
approach to decorating. Verso near perfectly clean embossed Minton,
Hollins etc..
