Floral A good floral design tile by George Cartlidge
usually found monochrome for without a raised
outline to contain the glazes far from a simple
matter to paint in colours. Tony had three
examples of this design in monochrome greens,
three different greens, in his collection. From the Tony Johnson Collection,
great-grandson of George Cartlidge and author of
The Morris Ware, Tiles & Art of George
Cartlidge, this the actual tile shown on page 16
of the book. The chip lower left is an aged
chip, Tony employed a professional photographer
for his book who clearly possessed some
'photoshop' skills. Verso very clean, embossed Sherwin.s Patent,
trademark, pattern number etc.
