Top corners trimmed for the original
installation, bottom left corner a fglazed over
manufacturing flaw, two minute chips top edge,
rubbing where the glaze has pooled on the plain
squares Style: Art nouveau This is very much a rarity, not seen before
by me, not so surprising for it is a truly
quirky tile. Love the design, art deco in the
midst of art nouveau? Voysey birds (actually
misnamed but that's another story) but fruits in
their place? So simple and effective. Combined
with the plain squares it looks a little
incongruous, it's tempting to cut it in half and
make a 3" x 6" and what a super tile it would
be. One would expect just the decorated part to
be registered but no it was registered as seen,
as a 6 x 6, it also comes with the pattern on
the right side of the squares. Verso very clean, embossed England and design
registration number.
