Tiny chip bottom right corner, only very minor
other marks. Some dappled iridescence on the plain
parts which are dappled anyway, iridescence tends
to be attracted to darkest colours. Style: Art nouveau One really gets the feel for Marsden's
urgency of creativity in the chequer patterns
the company made, few have the boring quartered
effect of other companies' most have a sensuous
dividing line in place of the strict straight
line of the rest. This is a great example and
quite rarely found perhaps partly because it is
very early in the art nouveau period. Two clusters of three poppies with stems
reaching across the divide, decorated in greens
with touches of blue in the hearts of the
flowers. Versos very clean, embossed 'registered'
indicating manufacture in 1900 otherwise
unmarked. Minor manufacturing flaws to the rim. Mark bottom is right corner a manufacturing
flaw, as on the other two an impression in the clay
from the pressing filled with glaze.
