Two minute rim chips. Style: Aesthetic movement A rare and superbly decorated tile from
Wedgwood, the pattern we see from time to time
but this is the first I can recall seeing in
colour. Lovely block printed colours sky blue
and gold and very well done the blue wash leaves
the tiny flowerheads uncoloured so that the
white clay shows through. Block printed (multicolour printed) tiles are
relatively unusual from Wedgwood mostly they
made plain transfer prints, a few tinted, the
stencilled slip range (incorrectly known as
Marsden's Patennt Impressed) and a few majolicas
most of which were subcontracted. Verso very clean just some slight remnants of
fabric stuck, embossed L, printed pattern
number.
