Chip bottom right corner, very tiny glaze loss
near top left corner, surface is near perfect.
Light brown marks top right of centre motif are
printing flaws. Style/technique: Abstract print &
tint This is a curious design, quite abstract and
in a fun kind of way, so abstract that it is
difficult to name a style. Made by one of the
Corn Bros companies so one can say art nouveau I
guess and on their own biscuit with embossed
marks so not one of their earliest. Charming
tulip like flowers at the centre of each edge,
stylised shapes at the corners perhaps seed
pods. Printed in brown and painted with three
bright colours. Maybe a rare design for I can't
recall seeing it before, with the patterns going
right to the edges not suited for fireplaces and
most furniture and so unlikely to be often
found. Verso some stain from mortar otherwise clean,
embossed C in opposing corners. The image is full size at 72 dpi (about 430
pixels wide) in maximum quality JPEG format and on
screen is about the size as it would be in real
life at the same distance. A larger 120 dpi image
also in maximum quality JPEG format can be
forwarded by email if required. The image is a little oversize rather than
cropped close to the edges so that the edges can
easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly
spotted. Other marks described are usually not
visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as
one normally sees it and can only be seen with a
critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch
imperfections in reflected light. For more details
of how we describe marks see Condition.
