Tiny chip top edge, slight roughness to the tip
of the bottom edge. Style/technique: Floral Print &
Tint A pretty floral design by Corn Bros using
their older title of W & E Corn, Polyanthus
coloured in bright red and blue with green
leaves and set against a flaming sun. I have
never seen the sun coloured yellow, quite
understandable, it would have been a difficult
painting job and too much yellow would likely
detract from the finished effect. One of only
four designs they are recorded to have
registered, a good choice for it is seen from
time to time and so presumably sold quite well.
Not only super colours but perhaps the most
brilliant glaze I have seen on Corn transfer
printed tiles. Of interest to some there are some different
manufacturing flaws on some of these tiles, I
find flaws quite interesting and understanding
them adds to the understanding of tile making,
the constraints and the problems they had to
overcome. Versos very clean, printed initials, design
registration number and pattern number. Tiny chip left edge. Perfect condition but a few manufacturing flaws
which carry their own interest. It stuck to
something else in the kiln mid right on the face
and the edge an on removal the glaze was stressed
slightly and we see a straight crazing line or
possibly a partial hairline but it doesn't go
through the tile at all.
