clean and bright. Style: Art
nouveau A good Art Nouveau design, bold flowerhead
and curvaceous leaves atop a celtic like
entanglement of stems. Well modelled and
moulded, well painted in the design but the
background green is weak towards the rim. A good
tile for framing, nicelu proportioned. Verso clear of adhesive but smoke
stained. * There were at least three companies with
Corn in the name and two Corn Bros. E. R. Corn
who started the tile business in 1891 said of
the transfer of the busness to the new Pinnox
Works in 1903, "at the same time, the existence
of two other concerns bearing the family name
-"Corn Bros." and "Corn Bros. & Co." -
having led to confusion, the name of W. & E.
Corn was allowed to lapse and the firm became
"The Henry Richards Tile Company Limited".
