A very pretty floral geometric printed and coloured tile with super and slightly ambitious colours. The clay is a light buff colour and so a white enamel has been used which is underglaze, the underglaze deep maroon colour is also quite unusual. The design is based upon one from John Leighton and shown in his book 'Suggestions in Design'.

Maybe T G & F Booth.

Condition: Very good
Price: £55 (approx $112)
Ref: 02355

About a dozen chips around the edges, three medium, a few small, a few tiny, a little spot of light stain around a tiny surface chip, minor manufacturing flaws, some bubbling in the white. The surface is generally excellent, no crazing in the glaze which has high brilliance.

"Square quatrefoil filled in with snowdrops and triple foliage"

The image is full size at 72 dpi (about 430 pixels wide) in maximum quality JPEG format. A larger 120 dpi image also in maximum quality JPEG format can be forwarded by email if required.

The image is a little oversize rather than cropped close so that the edges can easily be seen and any chips etc can be easily spotted. Minor surface marks described are not visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as one normally sees it and can only be seen with a critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch imperfections in reflected light. For more details of how we describe marks see Condition.
